Steps in soft sandstone. Arizona USA

From Gavin Rose
The stairway shown leads to a lookout point over looking Glen Canyon Dam, Arizona. Since its completion forty years ago the stairway carved into the soft sandstone bedrock had worn away. The durable and asthetically pleasing option chosen for rectifying this situation was to carve a trench in the walking surface and place harder rock of a similar colour in to form long lasting steps. For more information on this and other projects he has worked on, feel free to visit his web site at www.gavinrose.freeservers.com.
